DRIVING EQUITY IN THE CANNABIS ECONOMY
CASE STUDY
SITUATION
As a new government agency established by the Cannabis Reform Act, the Office of Social Equity (OSE) was seeking to establish a unique brand voice and presence, as the steward of inclusion in Maryland's cannabis industry. In addition, OSE sought to activate a marketing and communications strategy that would advance their core objectives to help social equity licensees succeed in becoming fully operational, and to challenge the long-standing stigma and negative stereotypes of the legacy cannabis industry.
OUR ROLE & ACTION
Our 7E team designed a visual identity and brand system for OSE, and delivered a comprehensive integrated marketing and communications strategy that established the market positioning for the Office of Social Equity as an important community partner and vehicle for "Helping Maryland communities learn, grow, build, and heal".
RESULTS
Our 7E team delivered a compelling visual brand system that gave OSE an elegant, sophisticated and modern visual identity, unique to most state government agencies. The new branding was launched in alignment with an integrated marketing plan designed to create a regular cadence of communications to a diverse set of stakeholders, commemorate milestone moments like the 1-year anniversary of the Cannabis Reform Act, and the development of a public service campaign.
